The 71 Most Stylish ‘People’ of 2023

The quotes, because there are non-human appearances here—Jeff Bezos’s schooner, a handbag, a cockroach, Mark Zuckerberg. (We kid). Mostly, this list is people, and, according to the New York Times, they are the most stylish ones of the year. In the dude department, find appearances from Cillian Murphy as Robert Oppenheimer, Pedro Pascal, David Beckham (with Victoria at his side), and plenty more. Down the line you’ll find familiar faces, some more deserving of this accolade than others.

The Blues Never Felt So Good

[Partner] The best part about blue jeans is that the more you wear them, the better they get. Time is the essential ingredient—as it passes the fades get deeper, and the more “you” the jeans become, thanks to the way the indigo dye comes off the cotton. Taylor Stitch loved that natural process so much, they dedicated an entire corner of their site to it. At the Indigo Shop, you’ll find a solid lineup of selvedge denim, of course, as well as signature pieces rendered in beautiful blues: the Jack button-down shirt, Long Haul jacket, and sweats and sweaters for when it’s time to hang up the hat for the day.

The British Army May Lift Beards Ban After 300-Plus Year

Let your freak flag fly? Military organizations aren’t exactly known to encourage individuality, but after centuries of setting an expectation for clean-shaven faces, the British Army might be chilling out on the rule. “Army chiefs are reportedly considering welcoming the beard, hoping to attract hirsute recruits to swell the ranks, in a move aligning them with the Royal Navy, which has long allowed full beard and mustache sets. The army board executive committee will debate the issue next week,” says The Guardian. Here’s to hoping the beards they welcome are as well-oiled as the ranks.

Have We Reached the Limit of Enormous Sneakers?

MSCHF’s big red boots broke the internet when they dropped earlier this year, with everyone from musical artist Janelle Monáe rocking them while shooting hoops to DJ Diplo giving them a spin courtside at an NBA game. They are ridiculous by every measure, which is the point. The times are defined by viral moments, and big sneakers (shoes, boots, or whatever you want to call them), are certainly having one right now. At Balenciaga’s recent pre-fall 2024 show, very, very large tennis shoes were a major talking point, with many wondering: have we pushed footwear to its size limit?

The Take

Your Fleece Pile Isn’t Quite High Enough

We mean it both ways: There’s always room to add one more super-warm layer to the stack, but the ones in it probably aren’t quite as shaggy as Patagonia’s Retro cardigan. Made of a thick blend of recycled materials—plastic bottles, wool, polyester—this high-pile fleece jacket is the next best thing to a cocoon for keeping warm, weather be damned. And, for the uninitiated, Patagonia’s commitment to keeping your gear in top shape is about as good as it gets. Take your regular size and say goodbye to feeling cold forever. $349
