Why Is Gen Z So Obsessed With Old Money Style?

In one sense, the kids are just doing what kids do—glom onto the moment. And right now, the polos, double-breasted blazers, and more staples of the preppy canon are having a big one. “The zeitgeist has risen up to meet the online thirst for dreams of an old money life,” says GQ. “Saltburn comes to mind, as does the new Netflix show Ripley,” based on Patricia Highsmith’s novels that inspired the 1999 film starring Jude Law, Matt Damon, and Gwyneth Paltrow playing debonair elites. Young people might be cash poor, but right now, they want to look filthy rich.

Google’s Newest Feature Is Basically a Dating App For Finding Clothes

Dating apps essentially let you go shopping for love, sex, or whatever it is you’re after with a perfect stranger. So of course the functionality of the tech developed by Tinder and others makes sense when it’s time to actually shop. One of Google’s newest features lets you swipe left or right in the same way you would when looking for a last-minute hookup or long-time partner, but starts with a search query and selecting a category. Here’s how to use the search engine’s upgraded commerce tool to help you find that blazer, belt, or tote bag.

The Buzz on Boat Shoes

“This is ‘the year of the boat shoe,’ says Vogue, which is far from alone in observing a proliferation of fashionable maritime footwear.” Keeping the publication company is Guy Trebay, who’s seeing them everywhere, too, he says. Not that boat shoes ever went away, but suddenly, there’s a deluge. They’re appearing on runways with fashion houses from Miu Miu to Fendi, and “are on virtually every page of a new catalog from the revived hipster heritage brand Quaker Marine Supply Co.,” says Trebay. Here, a few style aces scoop the Times writer on why Top-Siders, L.L. Bean Camp Moccasins, and the rest are back on top.

The Second Snoopy MoonSwatch Has Officially Landed

GQ writer Cam Wolf did some fine detective work last week when he decoded an image that Swatch posted to its Instagram. In it, Snoopy is carrying a cake with a white candle, and the brand had just launched the MoonSwatch Mission to Moonphase—or the Snoopy MoonSwatch—in a white colorway. But the cake also had a black candle, which, as Wolf accurately predicted, hinted at another drop. On Friday, it landed. The all-black Snoopy MoonSwatch is here, and you can buy it in stores starting today.
