Rolex’s CEO Explains Why a Luxury Watch Shouldn't Be Treated as an Investment
“The freewheeling days of the early 2020s are decidedly behind us, when the market for collectibles such as luxury watches, whiskey, and trading cards peaked. When it was pointed out to Rolex CEO Jean-Frédéric Dufour that two or three years ago, cryptocurrency investors were liquidizing their investments into physical assets, he did not mince words on investing in luxury watches. ‘I don’t like it when people compare watches to stocks,’ he said bluntly. ‘It sends the wrong message and is dangerous. We make products, not investments.’”
Smart Casual Is a Total Summer Style Flex. Here’s How to Do It
[Partner] To plan a wardrobe for wedding season, you have to read the people and place as much as the dress code. Are we headed to New York? Or maybe Arizona? Are these your upper crust comrades? Or high school buds that don’t give hoots about putting on airs? As you navigate expectations—or say to hell with them and do whatever you please—let Huckberry’s smart casual style guide point you in the right direction. Here you’ll find a few proposals for ace outfits that include breezy linen button-downs, lightweight seersucker jackets and pants, and loafers, all of which will give you the appearance that you weren’t even trying in the first place.
Patagonia’s Major Microplastic Problem
“When you wash clothing made out of plastic, tiny synthetic microfibers can get flushed into waterways, sneaking through wastewater systems. When you put these clothes in a dryer, the fibers can get vented out into the air; they can also shed simply by wearing them. During the production of these clothes and the trashing of them at the end of their life, these microplastics also find their way into the environment. And Patagonia’s own plastic clothing, it turns out, is no different.”
Does a Mysterious Painting Prove Blue Denim Was Around 200 Years Before Levi’s?
“The origin of the world’s most enduringly popular fabric is in dispute, as a new art exhibition spotlights a claim that firmly links denim with 17th-century Italy and takes its history back 200 years. Now a gallery run by international fine art dealer Maurizio Canesso is appealing for further research to help identify an anonymous painter who specialized in street scenes that often depict poor people in northern Italy wearing what looks like blue denim.”

Give Your Glasses Somewhere to Live
If you don’t have a place to put your glasses, they’re probably getting scuffed up or bent out of shape. These are very avoidable problems with Craighill’s eyewear stand. It is surprisingly heavy, so it won’t topple over when resting your specs on its saddle. Pop one on the console near your front door, or keep it on your desk, and give your glasses a place to call home. $68
