How Oasis Changed the Face of 1990s Fashion

We can definitely call this a comeback. While Oasis’s songs never left our playlists and record shelves, it didn’t look like the feuding Gallagher brothers would ever return to the stage to perform the hits that made them one of the biggest bands in the world. Liam and Noel’s droll vocal delivery and apathetic posturing wouldn’t be complete, however, without the bucket hats, track jackets, and baggy jeans. On the eve of the band’s promised return, here’s a look back at how their style sense, too, made waves that still resonate today.

Fall Layering Starts With These Organic Cotton Shirts

[Partner] Let’s talk fundamentals for just a sec. Good shirts are essential to any man’s wardrobe, since they set up the rest of your look. And that’s especially true for fall, when a shirt becomes the foundation for smart layering. Fair Indigo makes a range of tees in 100 percent organic pima cotton—in other words, the best stuff you can get—that are a great start to any outfit: crewnecks, V-necks, Henleys, and pull-over hoodies. (They also have a jogger in black). For less than $40, these shirts will set you up for the season.

You Can Now Smell Like King Charles, Thanks to His Latest Fragrance Launch

Not that you’d want to? But if you do, at long last, you can spritz yourself in a fragrance literally fit for King Charles III. According to InStyle, the king of England developed the new scent in collaboration with Truefitt & Hill, the oldest barber shop in the world as certified by the Guinness Book of World Records, to bottle fragrances found in Highgrove Estate Gardens. Even if we’ll never have access to those hallowed grounds, for about $180, this fragrance will let you smell like you do.

When Were Sneakers Invented? A History of Athletic Shoes in America

On is everywhere. Hoka, too. Today, the sneaker dominates, from cafés to tennis courts to corner offices. Now that the culture has come to accept athletic shoes across the board, leather-soled varietes—your brogues, or dress boots—will likely never have the grip they once had. Here, Footwear News traces the trajectory of the sneaker, explaining how advances in rubber in the 1800s laid the groundwork for some of the most iconic athletic shoes ever made.

The Take

This Lightweight Puffer Lets You Stretch the Outdoor Season

Feel that? The shadows are getting longer, the nights cooler—indeed, fall’s tells are starting to show. We’re far from giving up on plein air hangs, though. The Lapwing Shirt from Finisterrre (the Patagonia of the U.K., some call it) is the perfect layer for getting just a little more outdoors time before the real cold sets in. With a classic puffer look, the recycled-nylon shirt is cut a touch large so you can layer underneath, which really is the secret to getting in just a few more evening bonfires and beer garden hangs.  $195
